Fillingham and Company also works on bespoke projects with artists, bridging the gap between artist, fabricator, museum and gallery.
Building on Peter Fillingham’s long-term association with Karachi-born, London-based conceptual artist, sculptor, painter, writer and curator Rasheed Araeen, in 2023, Fillingham and Company managed the production of Araeen’s large scale participative work ‘Zero to Infinity’ for Uniqlo Tate Play in the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern, as well as a variation of his work from the documenta 14, Shamiyaana: food for thought, thought for change.

ART, AND PERHAPS SOMETHING ELSE
How and where can art, and artists, contribute positively to society and culture? How can artistic practices contribute to the work of individuals and groups from other disciplines and walks of life? How can we promote inclusion, community cohesion and active participation?
Currently based in Hastings in East Sussex, Fillingham and Company aims to build links between artists and creative businesses within and beyond our immediate community, and to contribute to community cohesion and regeneration. We seek out craftswomen and craftsmen, fabricators and other makers who can work with us in fabricating sculptures and other artworks. We introduce artists to thse experts and businesses so they can collaborate and share knowledge. In turn, artists bring work to our communities.
Fillingham and Company has professional associations with arts organisations and galleries both in the UK and in Europe, including the Portland Stone and Quarry Trust (pictured above), galeria cadaqués huc mala in Catalonia and Project 78 Gallery in St. Leonards-on-sea, staging events. courses and exhibitions.

WHO WE ARE
JANET HODGSON, Director
Janet Hodgson has worked for many years in the creative industries across the arts, media and marketing, helping to develop culturally relevant communications, research and content for a range of organisations and well-known brands, including the BBC, Unilever and Britvic. She has worked as an anthropologist making ethnographic films for global ad agency Ogilvy and Mather, a film-maker in residence for the Taxi Charity for Military Veterans, and for many years as a marketing consultant. Over the last few years she has worked with many artists and arts organisations, helping to stage innovative events bringing their work into the public eye.
During her studies for an MA in Social Anthropology, she discovered the value of immersive fieldwork, and a love of film-making, which is the basis for her own practice. She has shown several short documentaries at film festivals and is developing a documentary about the author Elizabeth Jane Howard.
She brings her experience in marketing and her interest in how artists think, live and work to Fillingham and Company.
PETER FILLINGHAM, Director
